In response to Atiku’s suggestion on Tuesday that opposition parties combine in order to unseat the APC, the main opposition parties responded.
According to The PUNCH, Atiku proposed the merger while hosting the Nigerian Inter-Party Advisory Council’s National Executive Committee.
The former vice president issued a cautionary note about the possibility that Nigeria would turn into a one-party state.
He said, “We have all seen how the APC is increasingly turning Nigeria into a dictatorship of one party. If we don’t come together to challenge what the ruling party is trying to create, our democracy will suffer for it, and the consequences of it will affect the generations yet unborn.”
The acting National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, characterized Atiku’s call as a sound proposition that every Nigerian need to take into consideration in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday. Mr Peter Obi welcomes Atiku’s Party merger proposal
